To use a CPAP machine you must wear a mask, either a Nasal Mask that covers your nose or a Full Face Mask that covers your nose and mouth. The effectiveness of the CPAP therapy is dependent on a proper mask fit.
Understanding Your Measurements
To properly measure yourself for a CPAP mask, you must take some basic measurements of your face. Please use the PDF Documents below to make correct measurements.
Consider Your Needs
Be aware of whether you breath through your mouth or your nose when you sleep. A CPAP relies on pressure to force the air into your airway, and breathing through your mouth can reduce that pressure, lessening the effectiveness of the device. If you do breathe through your mouth, a nasal mask may not work and you may need to use a full face mask. A full mask covers your nose and mouth, thus helping you keep your mouth closed while also avoiding pressure loss if you do breathe through your mouth. |
